The first step you must take when separating an at will employee is to document everything. If you must fire someone for an unlawful reason or a stupid one, then follow the process for high-risk separations. However, when you're dismissing the employee for an illegal reason, you'll pay through the nose.
Misbehavior occurs when an employee intentionally disobeys a superior level staff member's directive. A worker termination notification is a formal letter explaining the reason for separation. EXAMPLE - High Risk Termination. If the problem is due to personal family difficulties, you might advise the employee to seek outside counseling and give them the opportunity to increase their work. For progressive discipline cases, the jobholder gets 3 warnings before termination. Lastly, he can tell his side of the story and rebut your version of events.
