Continuing employee hygiene problem? Here's the next step

According to our business policy, I'll be placing (Employee Termination Letter)

Why a bad employee is causing more problems than you think

According to our business policy, I'll be placing a copy of this final written notification into your permanent workforce file.". This clearly tells the worker that if their productivity does not significantly upgrade within 30 days, they will face layoff. Although your small business likely has a "name, rank and serial number only" reference policy, likely your managers and employees are giving reference interviews against the policy. If you publish it for all to see, it ensures that you and your personnel are all on the same page when it comes to disciplinary procedures.

Dishonest employees are a danger to both the firm and employee morale. Don't delegate the phone calls or meetings to a low-level worker or the worker's replacement. This is an important step as many personnel think if they have an employment contract, they are also protected from at-will firings, and that's not the case. (When you're not the separated worker's supervisor, be sure you bring the employer as a witness.) Although the definition of employment at will favors the boss, it for the most part fails to protect you when you dismiss a worker. A cold termination leaves a bad impression not only on the affected employee, but the firm's reputation. First, when you're firing for gross misbehavior, you should terminate the day after the 3-day suspension whether this is Friday or not. A problem worker can exhaust not only the esprit de corps of the other employees, but eventually the profit and efficiency of your small company. Gross misconduct and firing commonly go hand-in-hand. In the heat of such a moment, you cannot afford to neglect important items like collecting any keys or firm property in the employee's possession. At any given time during a company day, throughout the United States employers are calling wayward employees into their office to give them the ax, the heave hoe, the old pink slip.
